New York Jets safety, Jamal Adams, recently took to the streets to protest against social injustice in America. Nationwide protests have been ongoing since the death of George Floyd, an African-America, at the hands of a Caucasian police officer.

Adams can be seen walking with his fist closed and arm raised while chanting “Black Lives Matter”. The Jets’ safety has been very vocal about the killing and has been at the forefront of NFL players responding to Floyd’s death.
Adams was among the many NFL players who posted a video on Thursday demanding the NFL admit its wrongdoings, condemn systemic racism, and do more in the fight to end racial inequality.
Further, he was critical of Drew Brees’s comment on disrespecting the American flag. He believes that Brees isn’t really sorry.
When the kneeling protests began in 2016 to point out to social injustice, there weren’t as many locker room discussions on the issue as there might be in the 2020 season.

On June 2, Adams tweeted a picture of his statement on the matter. He said he has been struggling with injustices in America for quite some time. It about time this stopped. Additionally, he said that “this isn’t just a political issue, this is about the morality of our nation.”
Jamal has never been shy about expressing himself. He even criticized Fox News’ Laura Ingraham for attempting to justify Bree’s original comments while previously having told LeBron James to “shut up and dribble” than voice outrage.

The NFL’s Response
Commissioner Roger Goodell recently admitted that the league was wrong for listening to NFL players earlier and encouraged everyone to speak out and peacefully protest. He also said that he protests with the rest of the nation and wants to be a part of the much-needed change in this country. Goodell also said that the NFL condemns racism.
African-American players make up for a majority in the NFL. Commissioner Roger acknowledged this by saying that “without black players, there would be no National Football League.” Goodell also said, “we are listening, I am listening. And I will be reaching out to players who have raised their voices and others on how we can improve.”
