If you think Xbox’s biggest launch this year was the Xbox Series X, think again. The Series X may be a gaming marvel, but it is not the crown jewel of Xbox’s launch calendar. The biggest launch for the company would definitely be the Xbox Game Pass service.

Xbox’s strategy for this new generation of gaming was pretty clear from the beginning. They wanted to make games more accessible to everyone. To make this happen, they thought of a Netflix-esque subscription service for games. Eventually, this led to the announcement of the Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

There are multiple studios offering various games with this service. EA, who also launched its EA Play service, has also joined hands with Game Pass. Players can now access the entire EA library on the Game Pass, at no additional cost. To add to the good news, Xbox GM of Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, recently mentioned how this deal with EA is a long-term investment.

EA Play will be a part of the Xbox Game Pass for a long time

In an interview with Gaming Bible, Greenberg said, “So right now we have a significant partnership with EA Play”.

He added to this by saying, “So this is a significant addition, and this is going to remain in the service for quite a while.

“So people should, just like you see, what if you compare to other subscription services like Netflix, and you know, where if it’s a Netflix originals, those kind of stay on forever, if it’s something that they licence what’s made independently, it’s sort of up to the rights of the content owners.

“The same applies here, but EA is invested in Game Pass, just like we’re invested in helping support the EA Play catalogue.”

Clearly, all the EA titles are here to stay on the Game Pass for a long time. This spells good news for Xbox and PC users considering the Game Pass is available on both these platforms. Additionally, Game Pass already has over 15 million users, which is a great figure for Microsoft in terms of revenue.

Obviously, the company sees this as a long-term investment and will look to cash in on it over the course of time. As for EA, Xbox users can expect all the games to stay for a long time, which may even be extended if things work out well between the two companies.
