The ‘Young Eagle’ wants to fly again! Khabib Nurmagomedov’s prodigious cousin Umar Nurmagomedov was all set to face Bantamweight Cory Sandhagen for UFC’s Fight Night on Aug 5. However, the Dagestani had to withdraw from his 17th UFC fight – due to a severe shoulder injury. He was replaced by Rob Font – who failed to hold back the ‘Sandman’s prowess, and lost the fight via a unanimous judges’ decision.

But it looks like the ‘Young Eagle’ is getting impatient for a comeback to the Octagon. Boasting a 16-0 perfect UFC record, the #11 Bantamweight is one of the former UFC champ’s rising prodigies in the fight game. Now, 30 days after his unfortunate injury – Umar Nurmagomedov recently took to his Twitter handle to share recovery updates with his fans. But seeing this as the perfect opportunity to vent out his wishes, he directed a bold call out to a seasoned Bantamweight. Guess who? It’s none other than #6 Bantamweight veteran Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera.

Yes – this is the same ‘Chito’ who just finished his clash with Pedro Munhoz, at the UFC 292 PPV in Boston. But what could’ve led to the ‘Young Eagle’s sudden burst of emotions? Well, it looks like ‘Chito’s victory over Henry Cejudo’s replacement has struck a chord with the Dagestani fighter. What’s more – he has even declared that he would finish Vera within a mere two rounds – if they ever lock horns inside the Octagon.

At the UFC 292 PPV, Vera beat Munhoz fair-and-square, via the judges’ unanimous decision. The bout was scored at 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28 in favor of the Ecuadorian. Seizing his opportunity, ‘Young Eagle’ presented himself to Vera as the next challenger – to extend his 16-0 winning streak. But the fact that Nurmagomedov’s comeback is, at least more than 5 months away from this date, may hint at the possibility of this idea’s fruition. 

Hopefully, by this time, ‘Chito’ would’ve recovered from his UFC 292 face-off. But will the Ecuadorian accept the Dagestani’s proposal? Nothing can be said for sure.
