1. She is originally from Venezuela

Although she plays for Spain, she is partly from Venezuela. Her father is of Spanish origin while her mother is from Venezuela. She was born in Caracas, Venezuela from where she and her family moved out to shift to Spain when she was 3 years old.

This is the time when Muguruza actually started to play Tennis.

2.  Serena is her role model !

Her favorite player is none other than Serena Williams, who she beat when she stood in front of her as an opponent. She didn’t lose her concentration in the moment when she had to face her idol. This shows her determination. Her favorite male player is Pete Sampras.

3. Like the other youth of the world, she’s also obsessed with social media.

Muguruza might as well be furious on the field, but off the field she’s just a common person who likes staying connected to the world through the social media platforms. Besides this she loves to cook and listen to music to de-stress herself.

Muguruza was given a wildcard at the 2012 Sony Ericsson Open for her first WTA main draw appearance. There she upset former world no. 2 Vera Zvonareva in two sets in the second round and then beat former world no. 10 Flavia Pennetta, before losing to eventual champion Agnieszka Radwańska in straight sets.

She has won 5 WTA titles and 1 ITF title as well. Her major achievement in the grand slams till now is reaching the finals of the Wimbledon Championships, where she lost to the legendary Serena Williams.
