World No. 5 Daniil Medvedev has booked his place in the fourth round of the US Open 2020. The Russian defeated the American J. J. Wolf in straight sets and hasn’t lost a set at the US Open 2020.

The 2019 US Open finalist Medvedev remarked that it’s tough to determine what contact the players had with Benoit Paire and how close they had been. The No. 3 seed said, “Usually we say three negative tests if you do them, then you are okay. I don’t know what is true and what is not true.”
Medvedev expressed his views by saying that the players should have got a chance to play if it was safe for everyone. The 24-year-old added that maybe the public health officials had a contrary opinion on it.
“I think they should have the chance to play if this is safe for everybody. So basically if they didn’t, maybe New York health department thinks it’s not safe for everybody, but if you ask my opinion, I think they should play.
“But my opinion doesn’t mean anything here (smiling),” said Medvedev in the post-match conference after his third-round victory.
Top doubles seed Kristina Mladenovic and Timea Babos were forced to withdraw from the US Open. The duo received a COVID-19 quarantine notice by the public health officials, United States Tennis Association.
Many top players have been critical of the unclear rules and have slammed the ATP for poor communication.
