Israel Adesanya is at home. But he’s making efforts to stay fit, in case he’s called up to fight at short notice.

Israel Adesanya’s last outing came at UFC 248. It was his and UFC’s last event of the year so far before the pandemic shut everything down. Israel Adesanya took on Yoel Romero at the main event and retained his undisputed middleweight title. Though controversial, he took this bout via the judges’ decision.

Adesanya first claimed the belt in his fight against Robert Whittaker in a title unification bout. This went down at UFC 243 on the 6th of October. And Israel Adesanya has held the belt ever since.

In a recent interview with Luke Thomas, on his radio show, Israel Adesanya spoke about his time in lockdown and how he’s still managing to stay in touch with his fitness. He also spoke about his donations towards helping his community fight the pandemic.

Israel Adesanya is training for one specific reason

Speaking to Luke Thomas about his current regime Adesanya said, “ I have got an Airdyne here. So the Airdyne can kick ass. It keeps you in shape. I’m sort of keeping myself at 50 percent in shape. I have one training partner in the house and he’s a lot lighter than me in the weight class department. But we still get work in, and we still push each other.”

Israel also told us why he’s consciously trying to keep himself fit. He said, “You never know when the call might come in. Like we need someone for a sow on this date, this island or this undisclosed location. I’ve put it out there in the abyss, so they know I’m staying ready!”

Israel Adesanya is making sure he’s just about ready to get up and fight whenever called upon to do so. He’s making sure he gets some rest in too. Keeping himself at 50 percent seems smart. So when the time comes, with only a little fine-tuning and a little polishing, Izzy will be up and ready!
