What Did Nick Kyrgios Say?
The Australian star was asked about his match against Nadal at Acapulco. He had edged Rafa in a cracker of a contest. Interestingly, that’s where the tensions began with both exchanging nasty barbs. Nick went on to call the Spanish star “super salty”.
However, Kyrgios replied that despite everything, they have respect for each other.
“The last time I played him was at Wimbledon and we had a pretty good match. At the end of the day, we’re two different tennis players. We go about it completely different. And I know I got beaten by a better player (At Wimbledon).”
Kyrgios further said that even if they don’t like each other, they know that the other person is a solid tennis player.
“Regardless, if we don’t like each other or whatever, I think there’s a layer of respect.”
Kyrgios added that he considers Rafa to be one the greatest of all times.
“He’s one of the great’s of all times and I’ve also read that he thinks I’m good for the sport. So there’s a lot of respect that we both have for each other. Doesn’t necessarily mean we like each other. But we’re gonna go out there and put up and give contrasting styles and personalities”.
