The Medium is an upcoming psychological horror game for the next-gen Xbox Series and PC via Steam. The game just released its first official trailer on IGN’s Youtube channel. The Medium introduces its two main characters
The two main characters in the game are Marianne and the Maw. Marianne can perceive both realities, material as well as spirit. The game will revolve around both of them and it will be interesting to see how the material world and the spirit world will be interconnected in the game. Marianne is the lead character in the game while she struggles against the Maw.
The Maw is the antagonist of this game and is played by none other than Troy Baker. Troy Baker is not a new name in voice acting. He is also the part of Marvel’s Avengers as Dr. Bruce Banner. However, this is something new for him and the horror genre itself is a huge responsibility for the veteran voice actor.
Voice acting in horror games is the most important to boost realism. The players know that the graphics aren’t real, however, the voices of characters incite that scary impact in these games. It seems like the developers, Bloober Team, were well aware of these responsibilities and worked hard on giving the best sound experience to players.
Another important character in the game is Sadness, a mysterious masked girl who lives at the abandoned Niwa hotel.

The trailer gives a decent introduction and adds further curiosity
Through this trailer, everyone gets a first glimpse into the dark origins of the Maw who is the nightmarish entity in the game. The other characters are also barely introduced which adds to the curiosity of people who are looking forward to playing this game. The game seems to be inclined more towards the psychological aspect rather than horror. There’s a possibility that Marianne is inside her psyche as she struggles with her demons and ‘sadness’.
All in all, the game is looking great and Troy Baker surely adds some brand value with his name in the game. It is set to release in December 2020 and pre-orders for the game are live.
