The Last of Us 2 has been one of the greatest PlayStation exclusive titles in recent times. It had received a lot of criticism following its release, but went on to become a hugely loved title nonetheless. So much so, that the gaming community believes it to be a major contender for the title of Game of The Year. The title broke sales records with its release and for good reason.

While TLoU2 is enjoying its well-earned fame, Metacritic brought some further good news for the franchise. The first title of the series has been nominated as the game of the decade, according to the Metacritic User Poll.

The Last of Us had been an era-defining title in terms of storyline and gameplay. In a way, one might say that the huge success of TLoU2 is rooted in the seed the first installment had sowed.

TLoU had received similarly huge success following its release as well. The title had sold 1.3 million units within 7 days of its release. The sales figures proved it to be the biggest launch of an original title since the 2011 game LA Noire.
TLoU received a ton of accolades, both following its release and prior to it. Not to forget, this title was the Game of The Year in 2013 and received similar GOTY awards from multiple gaming publications.

Following its huge success, Naughty Dog released a remastered version for the PS4 the following year. It currently holds the third-highest rating on PS4, according to Metacritic, following GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.
The Last of Us was one of the most beautiful games of the generation and was nothing short of an era-defining gem.
