Dominick Reyes believes that current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is no longer interested and wants no part of him.
At the main event of UFC 247, Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes went head to head in a match. The UFC light heavyweight belt hung in the balance and Reyes suffered a close loss via decision. And he has since been pursuing a rematch. And even the promotion seems to be on board with the match. So then, what’s the problem?
Jon Jones, since his victory at UFC 247, has been toying with the idea of a jump. A jump to the heavyweight division. He says he achieved all he could within the light heavyweight division, and it’s now time to move ahead. He wants to bump up a weight class and challenge Francis Ngannou, who currently sits in the number 2 spot.

But Dana White isn’t ready to pay Jones the requested amount, and Jones has threatened to leave the UFC, leaving his light heavyweight title vacant. And Dominick Reyes thinks it’s just a ploy to avoid meeting him inside the Octagon once again and risk losing the title.

“It was obvious man, that last fight was a dog fight and I took it to him,” Reyes said in an interview with Chael Sonnen. “I pushed him to his limits. I pushed him somewhere he’s never been. He’s never been outstruck, he’s never been hurt like that, he’s never had an opponent that wasn’t afraid of him at all. … He’s not willing to lose his belt for less than whatever million dollars. He knows that belt is close to being lost, so he’s doing whatever he can to avoid fighting me again.”

“He’ll go to heavyweight, ‘I’ll take my first loss at heavyweight, are you guys happy now? You saw me get knocked out by Ngannou,’ I think that’s kinda what he’s thinking. Do everything he can to avoid that to keep his legacy, to keep his belt. Possibly go up to heavyweight and maybe beat Francis and now OK now I can make a run at the heavyweight title.”
What do you think? Will Jones move up to the heavyweight division?
