Edson Barboza made his featherweight debut at UFC Fight Night 176. Even though he lost a close contest against Dan Ige, the statement of his return was loud enough for everyone in the fight business. Including UFC President, Dana White.
White is apparently very excited about Barboza’s return. In the post-fight conference, a journalist asked him how he thought Barboza performed. Dana said,
“He looked good! He looked strong. but Ige, you know…… That is actually his weight. He [Ige]looked tough. He looked good in his first real, nasty fight against a guy who has been around forever and a guy who came in great shape, looked good. You know, Barboza gets in there and starts kicking and punching and he starts to gas midway through the second. And he did not gas tonight. He looked good. Especially for a guy that cut that much weight.”
