Jorge Masvidal squared off against the former foe of Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz at UFC 244. In what was dubbed as the fight of the year, Masvidal stopped Diaz in the third round of the match to win the BMF title. Masvidal’s incredible punching power rocked Diaz in the early round and left a brutal bruise beside his eye, going into the third round. The doctors stopped the fight, as Masvidal won the BMF title.
However, Conor McGregor is making headlines yet again ahead of his much-awaited UFC return. He last stepped inside the octagon against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in Nov. 2018. McGregor lost his UFC lightweight championship as Khabib caught him with a rear-naked choke in the fourth round of the fight to grab the UFC gold.
Its been almost one and a half years since that happened. Khabib has gone on to successfully defend the title belt against the former interim champion, Dustin Poirier. Khabib will face Tony Ferguson for the lightweight title at UFC 249. However, McGregor is returning to the welterweight decision. With a lot of worthy fighters in the division, many are locking eyes against McGregor to get a match with the former two-division champion. Among them was Masvidal, who had an incredible 2019.

Conor McGregor Gives Verdict on the Early Stoppage
Conor did not look impressed with Masvidal’s performance. In a recent interview, he talked about the unfinished fight.
“I will face Jorge. I am not going to 170 just for Jorge. He hasn’t gotten really anything out. I wasn’t really happy with how that Bad Motherf****r thing ended. I think it was unfinished in my opinion. That belt is unfinished. It was only getting into a good belt, I believe. So, we were robbed of round four and five in that belt.”

Masvidal mentioned just after the fight got over that they will run it back due to how the fight concluded. Nate Diaz has fought Conor before, and McGregor is aware of Diaz’s growth in the later rounds of the fight. With 3rd and 4th rounds called off due to the cut, Conor is right in believing that the MMA community was robbed of a good fight.
If Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal do run it back in the future, the stakes will be higher this time.
