Wade talked to his daughter publicly on stage
Wade in his speech, directly talked to his daughter Zaya who came out as transgender in 2020. He said in his speech, “As your father, all I’ve wanted to do was get it right,”. “I’ve sat back and watched how gracefully you’ve taken on the public scrutiny. And even though it’s not easy, I watched you walk out of that house every morning. As yourself. I admire how you’ve handled the ignorance in our world. I admire that you face every day. To say that your village is proud of you is an understatement. Thank you for showing me that there’s more than just one way to talk effectively.”
After this speech, the fans on the internet were moved and had positive responses and reactions to it.
This speech was everything!! A lot of people talk about "intersectionality" but have a hard time living in those spaces. The Wades called it out. I applaud them for their willingness to stand in those spaces of #intersectionality that so many of us shy away from.
