British tennis star Emma Raducanu is a firm believer in hard work. In the sports world, luck may play a vital role in an athlete’s success. But the 2021 US Open champion solely believes in creating her “own luck”. And her success at the ongoing Indian Wells Masters is a testimony to that. In a recent interview, she opened up about her current mental and physical state at the ongoing BNP Paribas Open.

Despite a challenging 2022 season, which saw injuries and hampered her progress, Emma Raducanu refused to be written off. The 18-year-old wildcard who rose to fame after reaching the US Open final last year remained steadfast in her determination and continued to work tirelessly towards her goals.

After defeating Danka Kovinic in the initial round of the Indian Wells Masters, Raducanu’s perseverance finally paid off. And according to her interview with Eurosport, she feels pretty good about her game. She continued to exhibit an impressive form in the next round., ultimately eliminating Magda Linette of Poland in the second round.

With an encouraging start to her Indian Wells campaign, the 2021 US Open champion is resolutely committed to securing the biggest titles in women’s tennis, no matter what it takes. “It’s hard to even fathom how this is possible,” Raducanu said to the Eurosport.

“But then very quickly, I think you create your own luck. It works both ways. I won the U.S. Open as well.” The British no.1 continued about her belief in luck by stating, “I have to take the bad luck sometimes because good fortune has also come upon me.
“I wouldn’t trade that title for the world. I’m just prepared to take whatever it takes, knowing that I have that in the bank.”

She continued by expressing the immense value and significance of her first and only Grand Slam title.

As far as her campaign in California is concerned, Raducanu beat Beatriz Haddad Maia in the third round but succumbed to a straight-set deafeat to the current world no.1, Iga Swiatek in the round of 16.
