Sofia Kenin was the favorite to go all the way through to the quarter-finals of the French Open 2020. Facing Fiona Ferro of France in the Philippe Chatrier court, the American expected the tie to be a walk in the park. Proving everyone wrong, Fiona displayed some exquisite skills to put up a commendable fight today afternoon.

Starting off with a bang, Kenin started her journey by breaking Ferro’s service to startle the Frenchwoman. She quickly doubled the lead holding on to her service. Sofia Kenin returned the favors in the second set
The second set began with Sofia Kenin breaking Ferro’s service to go 1-0 up. Success was shortlived as Kenin lost her service and the French national equalized the scores 1-1. Returning the favor, Kenin broke once again to take back the lead before holding to her service to extend it to two games.
Ferro was 3-1 down and hope to bounce back soon. Spilling water over her plans, Kenin broke her service once more to take a considerable three-game lead. Continuing the massacre, Sofia held on to his service to go 5-1 up. With a point away from victory, it was a do or die moment for Fiona.

Serving to stay in the set, Fiona won some quick points to grab her second game of the set. Although it was far from enough to put significant pressure over Kenin. The American walked away with the second set 6-2 after successfully holding on to her service.
The American walked away with the third set
Kenin broke Fiona’s service to take the lead in both the sets. Completing the circle, she broke her service even in the third set to gain the lead in the deciding set. Already a game up, Kenin went on to hold her service before breaking Fiona’s service again to go 3-0 up in no time.

Hungry for the win, she hardly left any ground for her opponent to exploit. Her competitive streak continued as she strode ahead to hold her service to take the fourth game to her name. Fiona trailed all through the second set only to grab a point while Kenin was four games up. Although she had to fight for it, still she saved the humiliation of not opening the sheets in the third set.
Sofia Kenin was two points away from victory, Sitting comfortably at 4-1, she stormed into Fiona and picked up two quick games including the final service break winning the final point of the final set. She went through to the quarter-finals after winning the match 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.
