The Belgian tennis ace Kim Clijsters will be playing her first match in Dubai after a seven-year-long layover from professional tennis. Under her absence, the women’s game has evolved to a great extent. Their groundstrokes have become more powerful, they are quick on the court and play a smart game. Tennis will be challenging for Clijsters in the upcoming days.

On Sunday, the Belgian booked a practice session with World Number two Simona Halep. The Romanian was a bit nervous before hitting some balls against Clijsters, and surprisingly the Belgian also had a similar feeling.

“The feeling was likewise,” Clijsters alluded to Simona’s nervousness. “I have been a big fan of her for a few years. Obviously watching her win French Open, seeing her in Wimbledon was great to see for somebody who is such a hard worker. Obviously her coach Darren I know very well. Through him, we book a practice session. It was fun.”

Further, she called Halep to be a mere ‘hard-worker’. Halep always looks forward to practicing hard, and Clijsters stated, “she likes to work hard.”

“She’s one of those girls too, here you can just practice hard, appreciate what the other person is doing across the net. She’s great. Just fun to be hitting balls with her,” the Belgian added while speaking to Dubai Tennis Championships press.
