On 28th October, the world had to say goodbye to the famed Chandler Bing actor, Matthew Perry. The Canadian actor was found in his bathtub and had passed away at 54. The reasons behind his demise are currently not known. However, the ‘FRIENDS’ actor was lively before he passed away. He was a big fan of tennis and followed the sport often. Along with tennis, he also gave a shot at playing pickleball, which is a sport that is currently rising in popularity.

The Canadian actor has a history with tennis and has dabbled in the sport often. Before his untimely passing, he found comfort in tennis and pickleball. Perry’s connection with tennis goes a long way back. Despite being one of the greatest actors the world of sitcoms has ever seen, Perry started out as a tennis player.

A young Matthew Perry in Ottawa, Canada, did not dream of becoming one of the most memorable stars of television. He grew up playing tennis and held big dreams of becoming a big player. He started playing when he was just 4 years old. By the time he turned 13, he had risen to rank 2 on the Junior Canadian circuit.

After that, he decided to come to the US to grow further. However, the difficulty in the US circuit far surpassed the Canadian circuits, and Matthew Perry found himself on the losing end often. “My family came out to watch me, and I got killed,” Perry told PEOPLE in 1996. “After that, there was no question of a tennis career. I knew I wasn’t good enough.” He added. However, he was more than good enough in something else. 

After many devastating losses, he gave up the dream of becoming a tennis player and chose to go for acting. Despite giving up the sport as a profession, he did not leave it behind completely.

Matthew Perry’s last public appearance

Matthew Perry was a big fan of tennis and he never stopped following the sport. He also played it often and kept the tennis bug alive in himself. In fact, the last public appearance of the ‘FRIENDS’ actor was in the capacity of tennis. Fans of the sport and its actors could see him sitting in the stands in Stade Roland Garros. 

Perry saw the action of the French Open unfold before his eyes and could even be seen clapping at the plays often. Perry’s love for tennis was alive in his heart, and it also opened his mind to try his hand at pickleball.

How Chandler Bing’s actor became infatuated with the paddle sport

Being a big fan of tennis, Perry gave pickleball a shot and soon became enchanted with the sport. He would play it often and he even played it on the day he passed away. He played a particularly energetic session as his friend said that he left the courts heavily fatigued. His friend noted that since Perry had many health problems when he was younger, he was now obsessed with becoming healthy. He would play the paddle sport four to five times a week and go on to enjoy each session.

The actor’s death came as a big shock to the entire world. His passing saddened millions and many of his tennis fans as well. The wound is still sore for many, but they have fond memories with him to aid the pain. May he rest in peace.
