Three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka has had an extraordinary career so far. The Swiss star has managed to win three Majors in an era that is considered one of the most difficult. Having guys like Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal around, he managed to get the better of them along the course of his journey.

Another interesting fact is that he beat a World No.1 each time he won a Grand Slam final. Wawrinka has a good affiliation with most of the guys on tour. Although Stan has had to live under the shadow of Federer, he does share a special bond with his compatriot. They won in the doubles Gold Medal at the Olympics back in 2008. They also won the Davis Cup in 2014.

Speaking of late on his experience at the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals, he said “It’s a Big Show. The first year I played there was something special, something amazing. As a tennis player when you grow up, it’s always a dream to play this tournament because you can qualify only by being in the top 8 in the world.”

On being asked about the memories he has had at this event, he further stated,In London, the O2 is an amazing stadium. All the crowd was in the dark and the focus is only on the players. I had memories of not just playing but also watching matches from the hotel.”

The Emergence of Stan Wawrinka

In 2014, much to everyone’s surprise, Wawrinka beat the firm favorite Rafael Nadal to win his first-ever Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. After that win, he managed to attain his career-best ranking of being World No. 3.

The following year in 2015, having used his most lethal weapon, the single-handed backhand. He wrecked Novak to win the final at Roland Garros in an engrossing battle. In 2016, he won his first title at the US Open again beating the Serbian-machine Novak Djokovic.

Wawrinka has certainly managed to entertain tennis fans with his exceptional quality of tennis. He has suffered from injuries in recent years. Being a tennis enthusiast, it would bring great joy to see him achieve more glory in the twilight of his career.
