A few days ago, Spanish publication Marca reported on the possible relocation of the US Open 2020 to Tennis Paradise, California due to the escalating coronavirus cases in New York City.
Despite the unfavorable conditions though, organizers have decided to stick to their plan. They will carry out the Major as per schedule in the Big Apple. If their resolve holds, the event will go ahead from August 31 to September 13, 2020.

Also, they do not have any plan to conduct the event behind closed doors. “Our plans to stage the US Open on our scheduled dates at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York with fans, remain on-going,” the USTA stated.
“We recognize that we are all facing an uncertain and rapidly-changing environment regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. And therefore have been aggressively modeling many other contingencies, including scenarios with no fans.”
The biggest tennis stadium in the United States, USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center has been temporarily converted into a hospital with more than 450 beds. Almost 25,000 people are fed inside the stadium every day. And towards the end of August, when the tournament commences, everything is supposed to return to normal.
But yet again, with the unpredictable conditions amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Flushing Meadows Major will be giving an update in case of any change before mid-June.
