French professional tennis player Benoit Paire continues to maintain his shabby record on the tennis tour. He lost his sixth consecutive match on the ATP circuit in the opening round of Monte Carlo Masters 2021.

World Number 33 Paire lost a close battle to Australia’s Jordan Thompson 4-6 7-6(3) 6-7(5), and sadly, he’s not really worried about his current form on the professional track.

More alarmingly, he confessed to having lost enthusiasm for the sport, suggesting tennis is no longer bringing him joy.

“Honestly, I don’t give a shit about this match. Playing in a cemetery like this, it’s just not possible anymore. All the players think it. I am perhaps the only one to say it. Tennis is no longer bringing me anything good. I’ve got no more spark,” he stated after losing his match in Monaco.

Benoit Paire only concerned about the paychecks he receives from tennis

Earlier, following his loss at Cordoba Open in the month of March, Paire sounded like he had lost the motivation required for tennis. And his main goal is to collect the paychecks following his round one losses of every tournament.

I come (for the tournaments), I make some money, and (then) I go to the next tournament: I do my job,” he previously stated. “There, if you win an ATP 250, you only get $30,000. I took a check of $10,000 each time by losing straight. Why tear yourself away like a crazy to win barely more?”

Also, a few days ago at Miami Open, Benoit Paire was witnessed celebrating his first-round defeat to rising Italian star Lorenzo Musetti. That was absolutely an unsportsmanlike display on the court.
