Croatian tennis player Marin Cilic?has aside clear goals for the rest of the season. He plans to go deep in the biggest tournaments in order to reach the throne of ATP Rankings for the first time in his career.?‘The ultimate goal is to reach No 1’, Cilic confessed.
‘That?s my goal in terms of my tennis results and looking ahead for my improvement. That would mean I would have to win a couple of Grand Slams in order to be No 1, especially with Roger and Rafa winning most of them.
You can?t actually be No 1 with winning those big tournaments so that?s a big focus and big goal.’?Cilic thinks he is doing steps forward: ‘For me, when talking about that consistency, I think I have shortened the gap between my high level of tennis and the level where I am floating sometimes.

That has improved a lot and helped me to become as consistent as I have been. That is a great thing for me. I am always looking ahead and very motivated for any tournament that is coming. For me, the most important is to improve and get myself at the top and stay there consistently throughout the years.

Last year was the first year I started and finished inside the top 10. This year I started at number six and I?m floating between three and five. Those are great signs that I am sticking at the top.’
Earlier, when Nadal withdrew from the Queens Club tournament, Cilic joked that now it will be easier for him to win. With Nadal and Del Potro out of action, Cilic is now the top seed in that tournament.
