The Wimbledon Championships 2021 have kept fans worldwide engaged. However, Thursday brought about an “aww”?moment off the court, as Italian tennis power couple Fabio Fognini and Flavia Pennetta had something great to share.
Fabio Fognini and Flavia Pennetta’s esteemed careers
Fabio Fognini and Flavia Pennetta have both painted their careers with wonderful shades. Fognini has been a dangerous customer on the ATP Tour for over a decade now, winning 9 titles along the way. He has decimated the likes of Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, and was ranked as high as No.7 in 2015. The Italian also has a doubles Grand Slam title to his name, winning the Australian Open in 2015 alongside Simone Bolelli.

Flavia Pennetta is a retired player who has won both singles and doubles Grand Slams. She won the US Open singles title in 2015 and the Australian Open doubles crown in 2011. Among the names that have been beaten by Flavia are Maria Sharapova, Venus Williams and Martina Hingis.

Pennetta-Fognini welcome third child
The couple fell in love way back in 2014 and eventually got married in 2016. Prior to the joyous announcement, the Italians had two children – Federico and Farah. Flavia Pennetta took to Instagram to update everyone about the incoming 5th member of their family.

Pennetta publicly announced that she is pregnant and the couple is expecting a third child. In a post, she captioned “Some say 3 is the perfect number. Maybe its really true because in three words I can express everything I feel right now. I LOVE YOU! We are so happy and can’t wait to meet you little one”.

It was a great piece of news for tennis fans, and a moment to cherish for the couple, as they welcome another addition to their family. Stars of the game including Garbine Muguruza, Dominika Cibulkova, Sloane Stephens and Roberta Vinci have commented on the post and extended their heartfelt congratulations to the couple. Inheriting the genes of Fognini and Pennetta, few will be surprised at the talents of their children in the future.
