Is Taylor Fritz the American tennis hero we've been waiting for since James Blake's era?

Facing the local boy Jannik Sinner in the summit clash of the ATP Finals in Turin wasn’t easy for Taylor Fritz. Not just because of the World No. 1’s quality, but also because of the crowd support that he enjoyed. From the moment Sinner stepped onto the court, the crowd roared in support, chanting “Ole, Ole, Ole; Sin-ner, Sin-ner.” The cheers grew louder as Sinner clinched the match with a decisive 6-4, 6-4 victory. But Fritz didn’t hold any grudges.

The majority of the crowd’s support was for Sinner, but Fritz remained unfazed. In fact, he took to X later to express his gratitude to the crowd. He reposted a video from the ATP Tour with a heartfelt message: “Thank you for all the love and support this week in Torino❤️ Came up short but what a year it’s been, congrats to @janniksin on an incredible week and year. One more final push at Davis Cup this week with the team 🫡.”
