Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone was born on August 7th, 1999 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She grew up among 4 siblings. Growing up in Dunellen, New Jersey, Sydney showed a strong interest in track and field. Already bouncing from foot to foot as a baby. Inspired by her older brother Taylor, she ventured into the sport. At the age of 6, she competed in the 100m dash. At the Union Catholic Regional High School, Sydney quickly became a rising star. She became the school’s first two-time Gatorade Player of the Year in track and field. 

Beyond track and field, Sydney is a fantastic juggler. Her fifth-grade teacher taught her juggling. She quickly picked it up since she realized it’s an important tool for athletes as it improves hand-eye coordination. She also uses it as a stress relief mechanism. Sydney also interred into other areas like soccer, basketball, and dance. Her parents were always supportive of her varied ventures and provided her with a happy childhood.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is married to former NFL player Andre Levrone Jr. Levrone was known for playing as a wide receiver and was part of the Baltimore Ravens, California Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars. He retired in 2020 at the age of 25. He has since transitioned into real estate. The couple met in 2020 through a mutual friend. They initially started off as friends who shared a deep belief in the Christian faith and engaged in bible studies. Eventually, they started dating after he “slid into her DMs”.

Andre proposed to her after two years of dating in August of 2021. Just days after her record-breaking performance at the Tokyo Olympics. The proposal took place at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. The couple tied the knot on May 5, 2022, at the Early Mountain Vineyards in Madison, Virginia. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone broke out onto the scene after she made it successfully to the trials of the 12016 Rio Olympics. She transitioned to professional athletics after her freshman year at the University of Kentucky. During her first year, she competed and won in the 400m hurdles at the 2018 NCAA Division I Championships. She recorded a time of 53.96s. In 2019, she won a silver medal in the 400m hurdles at the World Championships in Doha with a time of 52.23 seconds. This was a preview of her magic at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. 

At the Tokyo Olympics, Levrone won a gold medal in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.46s. Successfully breaking the 52 seconds barrier, and becoming the first woman ever to do so. In 2022, she reclaimed gold in the 400m hurdles at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Breaking the barrier for a time of 51 seconds as well. She recorded a time of 50.68s. In 2023, she recorded a time of 48.74s at the USATF Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Despite her knee injury she is poised to make a stunning comeback at the 2024 Olympic Games.
