Patrick Cantlay is a 31-year-old American professional golfer. He was born in Long Beach, California on March 17, 1992, to Steve and Colleen Neelan Cantlay. The golfer also has three siblings: a sister named Caroline, and two brothers who are called Nick and Jack.
The golfer is not married, but he got engaged to his long-time girlfriend Nikki Guidish in September 2022.
He attended Servite High School in California. Cantlay, as a senior, won the California State High School Championship. While at UCLA, Cantlay was awarded the Haskins Award. He was also awarded several other honors, including Freshman of the Year.
By the end of 2011, he was the top-ranked amateur globally. Winning the Mark H. McCormack medal allowed him to participate in the 2012 Open Championship. In 2016, Patrick Cantlay's caddie, Chris Roth, lost his life in an accident in California. They had known each other since high school and Roth had served as the golfer's caddie not only during his amateur career but during his professional career as well. After Roth's death, he hired Matt Minister to be his caddie in 2017, and that partnership came to an end in 2023. Presently, Joe LaCava is caddying for the golfer.
In 2017, Cantlay won his first PGA Tour title. This was the Shriners Hospital for Children Open.
His first win at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin would see him rocket into the top ten rankings globally. In June 2021, he won this tournament again. In September 2021, he won the Tour Championship in Georgia. He was also voted as PGA Player of the Year.
He was also a part of the US team that won the Ryder Cup in 2021 and 2022. He held the record for the most consecutive weeks at the number-one spot in the world at the World Amateur Golf Ranking. His record of 55 weeks was broken by Jon Rahm in 2016.

He runs The Patrick Cantlay Foundation, which supports and helps junior golfers achieve their dreams and goals. The foundation also advocates programs that assist and support the first responders. In one of their first contributions, the foundation stated that they would help the brushfire relief effort in Australia.
