Mitchell Hooper
Mitchell Hooper: 2024 Net Worth, Stats, Salary, Wife, and More
In the four decades since its inception, The World's Strongest Man contest has never seen an athlete like Mitchell Hooper. While the sport has birthed many legends like Žydrūnas Savickas, Brian Shaw, and more, none have won the sport's most prestigious title within one year of making their strongman debut. Hooper became the first World's Strongest Man winner from Canada at just 27. Hence, the reigning champion is a prodigy in every sense of the word, and the strongman is just getting started.
Who is Mitchell Hooper?
Besides being a professional strongman and reigning World's Strongest Man champion, Mitchell Hooper is a man of many talents. The strongman from Canada is a physical therapist, strength and conditioning coach, and kinesiologist who runs his kinesiology clinic in Ontario, Canada. While Hooper has found worldwide fame and success through Strongman, he is also an athlete who has competed in multiple sports, including bodybuilding, and powerlifting, and growing up, excelled in sports like football, basketball, and golf.
Mitchell Hooper’s Early Life
Mitchell Hooper was born on 29 September 1995 in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. He started his schooling at the Forest Hill public school. However, as early as elementary school, Hooper didn't show interest in performing his day-to-day school tasks. However, he was naturally gifted in sports.
Hooper started his competitive sports journey playing hockey in school. However, by the end of elementary school, The Moose had transitioned to playing golf. The young player did so well that he had the opportunity to train under Sean Foley. Foley coached Tiger Woods during his legendary run as the dominant force in golf. However, Hooper didn't want to move to Florida to pursue golf, and that is how his tryst with the sport ended.
Like many high schoolers, Mitchell Hooper chose to play Football. However, his nature to experiment never diminished and the 6'3" athlete played Basketball during the snowy Canadian winters. High school was also the time Hooper started lifting weights. Although the gifted athlete noticed that he was stronger than many of his peers, strength sports would only come later in his life.
The 2023 WSM champion studied Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph. While studying at university, Hooper had put on some extra pounds, but the athlete and competitor in him compelled him to go above and beyond to lose weight. So Mitchell Hooper's weight loss journey culminated in a bodybuilding show where he placed 11th.
After delving into so many sports, strongman finally found his calling in strength sports when he traveled to Australia for his master's degree in Exercise Physiology. The champion first excelled in powerlifting, before embracing Strongman and decided to compete professionally.

Before jumping into strongman, the 6'3 Canadian also had a fledgling career in powerlifting. He competed in three powerlifting meets under the Australian Powerlifting Union. Among these, his best performance came in June 2019. The Moose deadlifted 331 kg (733 lbs), bench pressed 174 kg (385.5 lbs), and squatted 292 kg (644.8 lbs) while weighing just 116.8 kg (257 lbs). However, the sport didn't hold Mitch's interest because he got bored with the three repetitive lifts.
Mitchell Hooper’s workout and diet
One of the most unique things about the strongman is his versatile training routine. While most strongmen like Eddie Hall, Brian Shaw, and others have only trained to excel at competitive strongmen for decades, Hooper isn't shy about switching things up. From pure strength training to bodybuilding style training, the reigning champion keeps things interesting. He trained under retired strongman Laurence 'Big Loz' Shahlaei.
However, he often takes on the workout programs of legendary athletes from different sports. Tom Platz’s 525-lb Squat AMRAP, Eddie Hall’s 'Death by Deadlifts', Arnold Schwarzenegger's bodybuilding workout, and Blood flow restriction training, Hooper has done it all and is always on the lookout for more. To support his intense training regimen, the 28-year-old also pays great attention to what he eats.
The WSM winner's diet is high in all three macronutrients, namely carbs, protein, and fats. Here's what he eats in a day:
Meal One:
- Orange Juice mixed with plain Greek Yogurt

However, his 'victory meal' isn't nearly as healthy as the strongman has pizza, ice cream, and beer when he wins a significant contest.
