Lou Williams 2021: Net Worth, Salary, and Endorsements
Lou Williams is a six-foot-one guard who plays for the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA. He was born on October 27, 1986, in Memphis, Tennessee. Williams’ parents are the late Willie Louis Williams and Janice Faulkner.
Williams attended South Gwinnett High School in Georgia where he massively recognized his basketball talents. He led his high-school team to the 5A Georgia State Championship as a junior and earned several accolades.
The Memphis native was named Naismith Prep Player of the Year in high-school and took part in the Jordan Brand Classic as well as the McDonald’s All-American game in his senior year. Williams then skipped college to directly enter the NBA in 2005.
After a promising high-school career, Williams set his foot into the NBA without any college experience. His natural scoring ability was astonishing, but he fell down the pecking order due to disappointing workout sessions.
Williams has three siblings, two brothers and a sister. As for his love life, Williams is in a relationship with Rece Mitchell since 2014 and the couple has three kids together. However, there was a controversial moment in their relationship.
Williams admitted to having another girlfriend Ashley Henderson in 2014, besides Mitchell. The situation was strange because his other girlfriend Rece Mitchell was aware of Williams dating two women at the same time. However, it became all right when Henderson broke up with him in 2018.
Lou Williams NBA Career
Williams was selected with the 45th overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft. The Philadelphia 76ers picked him up and that’s where he learned the effectiveness of scoring off the bench.
Williams spent seven years in Philly and started just 38 of the 455 games he played for them. He averaged 14.1 points, 3.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game during the 2011-12 season and earned a runner-up finish for the Sixth Man of the Year Award.
The high-flying guard ended his stint with the Sixers in 2012 and signed with the Atlanta Hawks. He suffered a grueling ACL tear a few games into his first season and missed out on a year of NBA action due to rehab.
Williams played less than 100 games for the Hawks before which he was traded to the Toronto Raptors. He stayed there for just a year, but Lou Williams was bestowed with the 2015 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award.
He carried averages of 15.5 points and 2.1 assists that season and became the first Raptor to win the award. Williams then had short stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets but both of them didn’t reap much success in terms of team achievements.
The Rockets then traded Williams to the LA Clippers in an eye-catching trade for Chris Paul. He fit in well as the Clippers bench scorer and his massive experience proved to be a major advantage.
Williams then won back-to-back Sixth Man of the Year awards in 2018 and 2019 and his scoring averages stood above 20.0 PPG during these years. After four seasons with the Clippers, Williams was traded to his first team, the Hawks midway through the 2020-21 season. His role decreased considerably, but he helped his team as a veteran and was part of the Hawks first Conference Finals run since 2015.
