Kyle Lowry 2021: Net worth, salary, and endorsements

Kyle Terrell Lowry is one of the most versatile point guards in the league and plays for the Eastern Conference juggernauts Miami Heat. While many 0f his peer have slotted in as role players in other teams, Lowry has been among the few who has continued to do it all in the point guard position despite being a veteran.

Starting off his career with the Villanova Wildcats roster, Lowry in his very first year with the team wasn't that big of a star rather, served as a great role player for the team.

Coming off of the bench, the 6'0" feet guard showcased his talents as a floor general and was capable of working on the defensive end with steals and rebounds. His impressive first season earned him a starting spot in the team.

The guard certainly didn't let go off the wonderful opportunity and established himself  as one of the top guards of the draft class. But size was still a big issue for teams in the NBA. While Lowry was touted to become a lottery pick, he slipped down all the way down to 24th and was picked by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2006 draft.

While Lowry was touted to be a decent point guard, he was drafted by a Grizzlies team which already had a set of underrated stars like Pau Gasol and Mike Miller. With guards like Chucky Atkins and Damon Stoudamire up in the pecking order, Lowry was a mere fringe player for the team.

But his role certainly got an upgrade in his second season. Coming off of the bench, it looked like Lowry was finally delivering on the promise he had shown in his college. But all of it came crashing down in the third season.

With the arrival of another new guard in Mike Conley, the Grizzlies knew that they had to let go off some players. With a diminished role and Conley stepping up as the go-to guard, a new destination awaited the then 22-year-old.

In the middle of the 2008-09 season, the Grizzlies traded off Lowry to the Rockets in a three-team deal. But of change of scenery was not enough for the young guard. With veteran Rafer Alston taking the starting role, Lowry continued to be a role player for the team.

In his second season with the Rockets, Lowry's minutes also ballooned and the guard settled in as the go-to rotational point guard for the team. His true jump, though, came in the 2010-11  season. Taking the reins as the starting point guard for the team, the 6-time All-Star flourished.

With a great leap in his stats and his overall play, Lowry truly solidified his status as a capable point guard in the NBA. With a solid average of 13.8 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game, these two seasons truly showed what Lowry was capable of.

But the guard wasn't pleased with the Rockets and was yet again on the move, this time to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for a protected first-round pick and Gary Forbes. This move would turn out to be the game changer for Lowry, as he became a superstar guard soon after.

Kyle Lowry with Toronto Raptors

While his initial trade to the Rockets was a step back in his first season, Lowry suffered a slight slump in Toronto as well. Starting off in a new team, Lowry struggled a bit to adjust to his newer surroundings. But time certainly was the key factor.

In his second season with the Raptors, his partnership with DeMar DeRozan really flourished and Lowry put up career high stats all over the board. This made the Raptors a great up-and-coming team in the Eastern Conference and the improvement was also visible in their record as well.

Ever since the 2014-15 season, Lowry's numbers saw a new high as he, unlike many others, was a late bloomer and was clearly a superstar guard by the 2015-16 season. His incredible form and improvement certainly was recognised by the league as he started racking up All-Star appearances by now.

Constantly averaging over 15 points with decent efficiency and an incredible passing range, Lowry and DeRozan were the lead duo in the league. While the team started to dominate the regular season, playoff success was hard to come by. After multiple upsets in the post-season, the Raptors made a massive trade and decided to break the iconic Raptors duo of DeRozan and Lowry.

While Lowry was heartbroken with his brother's departure from the team, the arrival of Kawhi Leonard meant that the Raptors had a real chance to be considered a contender yet again. The gamble certainly worked as the Raptors became the 2019 NBA champions and Lowry was a key member in the run.

While many expected that the Raptors would look to full-blown rebuild with Kawhi's departure, Lowry and Co. were impressive in the 2019-20 season as well, making a deep playoff run. But the 2020-21 season was another story. This time, the team in a very long time hit a new low.

While he stuck around with the Raptors for the season, it looked imminent that Lowry might move in search of a second ring. While many contenders were eying a move for the veteran guard, Lowry chose to stay in the Eastern Conference and chose former Eastern Conference champions Miami Heat.

In the veteran guard, Miami certainly found all the solutions to their problem. Previously, they had relied on Kendrick Nunn and Goran Dragic as their preferred point guards, but none of them were as reliable as Lowry, who is much well-rounded guard.

His move to the Heat now looks like a great deal as the team now looks like a juggernaut in the East with hard-nosed defending supported by some electrifying scorers. While Lowry is not the star point guard he once was, he might serve as a great presence for players like Tyler Herro.

The Heat currently are looking like a unit on both sides of the floor and have a decent record of 7 wins and 5 losses. While this is just the start of the season, it won't be a surprise if Lowry ends up contending for the second title this season.
