The 34-year-old has joined seven other professionals to hold world titles of all four sanctioning bodies simultaneously.

Initially, she dabbled in soccer and was a member of the Republic of Ireland team, for which she scored two goals in a 19-match career.

Katie Taylor boxed as an amateur alongside her soccer career before electing to focus solely on her career within the squared circle.

As an amateur, 'KT' claimed the gold medal at five consecutive world championships. Furthermore, she finished atop the podium at six European Championships. 

In 2012, Taylor became the inaugural Olympic gold medalist in the women's lightweight category. 

Five years later and just four fights into her professional career, Taylor claimed a belt. She beat Nina Meinke via a seventh-round TKO to claim the WBA female Inter-Continental lightweight title.

Just four months later, she won the WBA female lightweight title. Subsequently, she added the IBF, WBO, WBC, and The Ring lightweight titles to her collection and entered an elite group of pugilists to hold all the belts at the same time. 

Not one to rest on her laurels, Taylor moved up to junior welterweight and beat Christina Linardatou to win the WBO belt in the division. 

She beat Delfine Persoon once more to make her first successful defense of the unified female lightweight championship. 

In 2020, Taylor beat Miriam Gutierrez to extend her professional record to 17-0. The Irishwoman is in for an interesting 2021 as she is in talks for a crossover fight.

Katie Taylor Foundation and Charity

Akin to many sportspersons, Katie Taylor is associated with charitable work. She serves as a Brand Ambassador for Children's Health Foundation on Temple Street. The hospital supports Children's Health in Ireland. 

'The Bray Bomber' also participated in the Make-A-Wish Foundation's initiative, where a child got to watch Taylor box for a world title in a second weight class.
