Who is Justin Thomas?

Justin Louis Thomas is an American professional golfer. He says that watching Tiger Woods win at Valhalla at age seven motivated him to become a pro. Thomas went to college at the University of Alabama, where he helped the Crimson Tide win an NCAA championship. His success also brought him the Haskins Award as a freshman. He turned pro after his sophomore season.

Thomas was once ranked #1 on the OWGR leaderboard. His current caddie is Jim Mackay. Who stepped in after his 6-year partnership ended with Jimmy Johnson. Mackay is one of the most experienced caddies in the golf fraternity and has worked for over 25 years with Phil Mickelson.

Justin Thomas’s Early Life 

Justin Thomas was born on April 29th, 1993, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Mike Thomas and Jani Thomas. It wouldn't be wrong to say that Thomas was born into a golfing family. His grandfather, Paul Thomas, was a pro who participated in the 1962 US Open. His father, Mike, was also a pro at Harmony Landing near Louisville.

Justin was introduced to the sport at a very young age, as he started visiting his father at the golf courses during his practice sessions along with his mother. The toddler soon started showing interest in golf and according to his father, he wanted to try to make some swings when he was merely 18 months old. As young Justin turned two, he started spending more time on the golf courses and started hitting balls and playing a few holes.

During his teenage years, Justin started playing competitive golf and also showcased immense promise, as a then-16-year-old Thomas secured the third position at the Wyndham Championship, which made him the third youngest golfer to make the cut in PGA Tour history.

Justin Thomas married a fellow Kentuckian, Jillian Wisniewski. The couple dated for five years before the one-time major winner announced his engagement in November 2021 during an interview on the podcast No Laying Up. The happy couple walked down the aisle on November 2022, in Franklin, Tennessee. Wisniewski graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BA in journalism. During her university days, she also worked at the Student Center and the school's TV department.

Currently, she works at McGarryBowen, an advertising agency based in Chicago. Thomas has always credited his wife with being one of the most crucial support systems in his life. She helped him get through the tough times and has also been vocal about the sacrifices she made for his golf career.
