Jarred Vanderbilt
Jarred Vanderbilt has an estimated net worth of $5 million as per reports. Vanderbilt signed a 3 year/ $13.1 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, Vanderbilt and the Los Angeles Lakers did agree on a $48 million contract extension this past summer.
He will earn a base salary of $4.6 million. Following this year, Vanderbilt’s contract extension with the Lakers will kick in, earning him a base salary of $10.7 million the upcoming year.
Early life
Jarred Vanderbilt was born on April 3, 1999 in Houston, Texas. Vanderbilt took up the game of basketball from an early age, given that his parents both played the sport in college. And he went on to become a five-star recruit in high school, playing for Victor Prep Academy.
Family and personal life
Jarred Vanderbilt was raised by his parents, Robert and Gwendolyn Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt’s father, Robert, played basketball for Wiley College, whereas his mother played for Xavier of Louisiana. Jarred Vanderbilt has three older sisters, Tasha, Rean, and Jenae. He also has two older brothers, Jamal and Robert.
His elder sister, Jenae played basketball at UTSA. Meanwhile his elder brother Jamal suited up for Texas-tyler. So, there is no doubt that basketball runs in their family. Vanderbilt being a five-star recruit in high school was followed by his 28.5 PPG, 13.4 RPG, and 8.8 APG performance.
He then went on to play for the Kentucky Wildcats. But two injuries derailed his college career where he only played 14 games and averaged 5.9 points and 7.9 rebounds in the 17 minutes he played per game.
NBA Career
In 2018, Jarred Vanderbilt declared for the NBA draft. He was the 41st pick in the second round by the Orlando Magic. However, he was traded to the Denver Nuggets the very same night. And on January 25, 2019, Vanderbilt made his NBA debut in a win over the Phoenix Suns.
During his tenure with the Nuggets, Vanderbilt was assigned to three different NBA G-League teams, the Delaware Blue Coats, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and the Windy City Bulls. Vanderbilt was then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves on February 5, 2020.
After making his debut for the Timberwolves, Vanderbilt was once again assigned to the Iowa Wolves, the Minnesota Timberwolves G-League team. Once he was recalled by the Timberwolves, Vanderbilt went on to sign a three-year deal with the team in 2021.
The following year, Vanderbilt was traded to the Utah Jazz in a packaged deal for All-Star Rudy Gobert. And the following year in 2022, Jarred Vanderbilt was once again traded to the Los Angeles Lakers as a part of a three-team trade. On September 15, 2023, Jarred Vanderbilt agreed to a four-year/$48 million extension with the Lakers.

Philanthropy
It could be said that Jarred Vanderbilt was born on the hardwood floor, given how both his parents and elder siblings were basketball players. But that is not the only thing that runs in the Vanderbilt blood. He has a charity of his own named the Jarred Vanderbilt Foundation. This is Vanderbilt’s way of giving back to his community with giveaways to young kids, inspiring them to be better.
Last Christmas, Jarred Vanderbilt’s charity distributed over 350 toys to special families in his community. He also had a backpack giveaway through his own foundation.
Other
Given that Jarred Vanderbilt was the 41st pick in the 2018 NBA draft, he does not have any endorsements as of now. But his stint with the Los Angeles Lakers is soon to change that, based on his performance on the court. He does not have a sneaker deal as of now either as Vanderbilt has been often spotted wearing PG 6 while on the court.
Other than that, there is little to no information on Jarred Vanderbilt's current or previous residences.
Controversial Moments
Jarred Vanderbilt remains lowkey and does not indulge in situations that would land him on the front page. Given that he is now in Los Angeles, Vanderbilt has since upped his fashion game. However, there was a moment when Vanderbilt was accused of trying to return clothes worth $2000 after wearing them to a game. Other than that, Vanderbilt is not one to indulge in controversy.

Expectations
Jarred Vanderbilt was compared to the likes of Ben Simmons and Lamar Odom during his high school career. But during his collage career, his coach developed him into a Dennis Rodman type of player and since then, those comparisons have prevailed.
Vanderbilt was brought on to the Lakers squad in order to help the team on defence and lock up the opposing team's best player. And with the contract extension he has got from the Lakers, it seems as if the franchise does believe in his services.
