FIFA 21: Gameplay, Ratings, System Requirements, and Next-Gen Update

FIFA 21 is a football simulation video game developed and published by Electronic Arts (EA Sports). It is the latest release and the 28th installment in the long-running, world-renowned. FIFA series.

The latest title in the series features over 17000 football players, over 700 teams in 90+ stadiums, and more than 30 leagues worldwide. Acting as a successor to FIFA 19, the game received exciting features, providing the most intelligent FIFA gameplay to date that reward creativity and control.

FIFA 21 Gameplay

The new gameplay features allow more creativity on and off the ball.

Agile Dribbling - This new system facilitates the fast footwork, more responsive close control in 1-on-1 situations, including new skill moves like the ball roll fake to explode past defenders.

Positioning Personality - The implementation of enhanced positional awareness elevates footballers’ in-game intelligence, putting them in the right place at the right time.  Overall, it allows players to better live up to their real-world interpretation of space and time on the pitch.

Creative Runs - Players have more control over their attackers’ movement with additional ways to break down the defense in build-up play. Some included features are Directed Run, Directed Pass and Go, Player Lock, etc.

Natural Collision System - A revamped collision system creates smoother player interactions all over the pitch. Goalmouth scrambles and battles for possession in the midfield resolve more spontaneously, resulting in fewer inconsistencies when players fight to be the first to the ball.

Last but not least, updates to Fundamentals of Football including Passing, Blocking, Responsiveness, and Manual Headers raise the game all over the pitch.

FIFA 21 Game Modes

Career Mode - New additions to this mode create more depth in matches, transfers, and training, while players constantly manage their team to the top in career mode. This mode features licensed versions of the world’s biggest competitions — including the Premier League, LaLiga Santander, Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League,  and CONMEBOL Libertadores.

FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) - This is the most popular game mode in the game, which involves building your dream team of players past and present. Introducing the brand new FUT Co-Op presents a novel way to team up with a friend online and compete for rewards beyond winning on the pitch.

VOLTA FOOTBALL - This all-new game mode lets players experience the soul of the streets with friends while letting them show off their style in over 20 football playgrounds the world through various forms of small-sided football.

House Rules - House Rules make a return, and its premises are simple. Players can play matches that follow a different set of rules or even no rules at all. It creates the space necessary for having fun in between proper matches. It is an exciting way for new players to get familiar and comfortable with the game.

FIFA 21 Editions

There are three editions of EA Sports' latest football simulation game - FIFA 21 Standard Edition, FIFA 21 Champions Edition, and FIFA 21 Ultimate Edition.

While the Standard Edition costs $59.99 and is the basic version. Meanwhile, the Champions Edition and Ultimate Edition are special versions, costing $79.99 and $99.99 respectively.

FIFA 21 Release Date

Electronic Arts released the game worldwide for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch on October 9, 2020.

Enhanced versions of the game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia are expected to release at an unspecified date.

EA will share more information for the same later in the year, probably when the next-gen consoles are launched.

FIFA 21 on Next-Gen Consoles

The power of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X next-gen consoles has enabled EA to unlock new innovations like blazing fast load times, deferred lighting and rendering, enhanced animation technology, off-ball humanization, and more. From visual to visceral, every time the payer steps on the pitch, it will uplift the entire gameplay experience.

Partnering up with Sony and Microsoft, EA has put forth the Dual Entitlement feature. This means you won't need to buy FIFA 21 twice to upgrade their copy of the game from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S. However, disc-less consoles will require the purchase of the game's digital copy to upgrade.
