Bresnik began coaching Thiem at the age of nine and had previously worked with Boris Becker, Henri Leconte, Patrick McEnroe, and Ernest Gulbis. He is well-known for his unconventional techniques and recommended that Dominic convert his two-handed backhand into a single hand.
