Early Life and History

Prior to getting into professional boxing, Whyte had a tough upbringing. Combat sports were his escape from these evils.

His first taste of combat sports was kickboxing. The Englishman had so much success in the sport that he was a two-time British heavyweight champion by winning the BIKMA title. He also won the European K1 title.

Whyte then made the switch to MMA, where he fought at the Ultimate Challenge MMA. However, Whyte only ever made one appearance in the cage; eventually moving to boxing at 20.

In his first-ever amateur fight, Whyte took on the current heavyweight champion of the world, Anthony Joshua, and beat the Englishman. However, his amateur career was cut short and Whyte turned professional in 2011.

Professional career highlights

Whyte made his professional debut in 2011 against Tayar Mehmed and won on points. The 'Body Snatcher' has not looked back since and has slowly become one of the best heavyweights in the world.

He even held multiple regional titles, like the WBC Interim and the British Heavyweight title. However, he is still chasing the elusive world title.

Boxing career highlights

Whyte has been involved in several high-profile battles over the years. He has fought the likes of Dereck Chisora twice, Joseph Parker, Oscar Rivas, and Lucas Browne, and come out victorious in each of these fights. His only two defeats have come against Anthony Joshua and Alexander Povetkin.

2021 was a crucial year for the Englishman, where he had the opportunity to avenge his defeat to Alexander Povetkin. He did just that. Whyte defeated Povetkin via TKO in the fourth round and once again became the WBC interim heavyweight champion.

Now, Dillian Whyte will clash in a title unification bout to unify his interim title against Tyson Fury, the current WBC and The Ring heavyweight champion. Fury vs. Whyte will take place at the Wembley Stadium in London, England, on April 23, 2022.

Personal Life

Whyte was born to his parents in Jamaica on April 11, 1988. His mother, on the other hand, abandoned him and relocated to England. Whyte was left with his father until he was 12 years old, according to British Boxing News. He did, however, fly to England when he was 13 to see his mother.

Dillian Whyte had no formal education at the time. He fell into criminality and street turmoil as a result of his lack of education. Whyte is reportedly said to have been stabbed multiple times in road battles throughout his adolescence. He also had an older sibling who died while he was a child.

From that point on, his life followed a different path. When Whyte was in his late teens, he was arrested, and his mother went to see him, only to cry and say she didn't want to lose another child. When Whyte was set free, he never went back to his dark days and became a serious boxer.

Besides the above-mentioned, the only thing known to the world about his family is that he is a married man and a father of three (two sons and one daughter).

Dillian Whyte: Foundation and Charity

‘The Body Snatcher’ is no stranger to doing his bit to give back to charity. In 2019, the charismatic heavyweight put aside his fiery demeanor and took an open training session for aspiring professionals in a Brixton boxing gym. The session went on for four hours.

Earlier in 2020, the heavyweight participated in the NHS Charities together cup. The event was a FIFA tournament filled with celebrities, aimed at raising funds for the NHS during the pandemic. Thus, Whyte has clearly shown his desire to give back to the people.
