Bol Bol
Son of the famous legend Manute Bol, Bol Bol is currently on the Phoenix Suns roster. Having started his NBA journey with the Denver Nuggets, Bol Bol has played for three teams in total in his four-year-long NBA career. Currently, Bol Bol has signed a one-year/$2.1 million deal with the Suns. His net worth is estimated to be around $5 million as of 2023.
Early life
Bol Bol was born on November 16, 1999, in Khartoum, Sudan. Being the son of an NBA legend, basketball ran in the family of Bol who went on to follow in his father?s footsteps and join the league. Bol gained traction in high school, being labeled as a five-star recruit and also earning McDonald?s All-American honors.
Family
Bol Bol is the second child of Manute Bol and Ajok Kuag. In 1998, Bol Bol?s father Manute was accused of being an American spy and was barred by the Sudanese government to flee to the United States.
The family eventually made their way to America when they moved to Connecticut as designated political refugees. Though his father had played in the NBA, Bol Bol had to be encouraged by his father to pick up basketball and begin training with him in the gym.
Bol Bol was already 6?5 by the time he was in 7th grade and that is when he first got media attention from CBS Sports and the Washington Post.
College career
Bol went on to attend the University of Oregon where he played under head coach Dana Altman as a freshman in 2018. Bol was considered to be one the best upcoming prospects in the NBA draft.
The 7?2 center had a few highlight games before his season came to an end due to an injury to his left foot. Prior to his injury, Bol Bol was projected as a top three or five pick in the 2019 NBA draft.
NBA career
Bol Bol was drafted in the second round by the Miami Heat as the 44th pick. His injury caused him to fall down drastically in the draft. His draft rights were traded to the Denver Nuggets the same night.
During his first year in the league, Bol Bol spent time in the G-League with the Windy City Bulls. The Sudanese center had a few games where he outshined the rest of the players and even recorded a double-double.
Bol Bol was eventually recalled by the Denver Nuggets and made his debut in the bubble season against the Miami Heat. He also made his playoff debut the same year but was eventually traded to the Detroit Pistons.
That trade did not go through as Bol Bol failed the physical evaluation and had to undergo surgery on his right foot. He was listed out indefinitely for the remainder of the 2021 NBA season.
In 2022, Bol Bol was traded to the Boston Celtics. But even before playing a single game for the Celtics, Bol Bol was once again traded to the Orlando Magic. The 7?2 center went on to play the next season with the Magic.
In the 2023 offseason, Bol Bol was waived by the Orlando Magic and picked up by the Phoenix Suns.?
