The Swiss tennis player, Belinda Bencic, was born to Slovak parents and she began playing tennis at the age of two. She also received coaching from Martina Hingis’ mother and coach Melanie Molitor from 2004 to 2012.

In Canada, she produced her best performance of the year and won the title there. Bencic defeated World Number one, Serena Williams in the semifinals, and Williams entered the tournament with only one loss during the 2015 season and she won the first three Grand Slam tournaments of the year.
In 2016, at the age of 18, she reached great heights in tennis, Bencic was ranked number seven in the world after she finished as the runner-up at St. Petersburg Ladies' Trophy. She was the first teenager in WTA’s top ten since Caroline Wozniacki in 2009. Later, injuries led to a drop in her rankings.
Bencic won the Hopman Cup in 2018 and 2019 and she teamed up with the tennis great, Roger Federer both years. In 2019, she won the title in Dubai. In the same year, she reached the US Open semi-final.
Bencic has won four WTA singles titles, in Dubai, Moscow, Eastbourne, and Toronto. Her best Grand Slam appearance is in the semi-finals of the US Open 2019. Bencic's highest career ranking is world no. 4.
