The T20I 3-match series between England and South Africa started off with a thrill. Not only was it interesting in the first over, but the excitement and anxiety also continued until the match was over.

However, there is one over amongst the total 40 overs that truly stands out. It was the last over of the match that Lungi Ngidi of South Africa was conducting. The bowler had the task to make sure England does not score more than 6-runs in this over. England needed 7-runs to win the match.

The first delivery was tackled by the batsmen with ease and they managed to score two runs. Now, only 5 runs were needed off 5 balls. The 2nd delivery, however, was tackled by Tom Curran who holed it out to Miller

Next, Lungi Ngidi picked up one wicket, gave away a couple of runs, and dropped a dot ball. Finally, England needed 3 runs from the last ball to win the match.

The recipient of the last ball was Adil Rashid. He played the ball towards the leg side but could not make it cross the boundaries for the four he wanted. However, he did pick up the pace and start taking runs but lost the wicket when trying to come back for the 2nd run.

The T20I Match at a Glimpse

The match started with England choosing to field. South Africa had a good start with the performance of Bavuma and Quinton de Kock. There was no comparing one batsman to each other since all of them made significant contributions to the 177 runs in 20 overs.

When England started to bat, Jason Roy took the team to 70 runs within 38 balls. This was followed by Eoin Morgan making his runs. At 17.3 overs, the team stood at 152/4. At this point everyone expected England to win the match. However, with only 26 required from 15 deliveries, England went on to lose five more wickets within the next 24 runs.

This has been one of the most nerve-wracking matches of the T20I series and it is expected that others will follow too. The 2nd match of the 3-match series is scheduled for 16th February 2020 (Sunday).
