Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone put the world on notice after the release of his first Rocky movie. Moreover, the protagonist, Rocky Balboa, has become a symbol of perseverance, hard work, and determination. The film franchise, which began in 1976, has become a cultural phenomenon and a source of inspiration for millions of fans around the world.

However, despite the success of the franchise, Stallone has a painful memory of the film that still haunts him to this day. Although ‘Sly’ is the one that wrote the movie and its subsequent parts, he does not own any of the rights to the movie. Instead, the rights are owned by producer Irwin Winkler. Moreover, to this day, Stallone still holds animosity toward the producer over ownership of the franchise. This was made clear in an interview where he slammed Winkler.

Sylvester Stallone will never make peace with the ‘Rocky’ producers

In an interview with SiriusXM’s Pop Culture Spotlight, Stallone revealed that his relationship with Winkler will never be friendly. According to him, peace cannot be made with someone who robbed him. Moreover, he added that this was not about money as ‘Sly’ only wanted the franchise so that he can leave behind something of his own to his children.

“You can’t make peace when someone has been so nefarious, in my opinion, so horrible. Because everyone made, well, they did. Yeah, but it was all supposed to be neutral. No one had anything more than the other result. But to get the rights, I’ve never heard of that in my life. Spielberg doesn’t have the rights to Jaws,” he said.

The thing is, I don’t care about the money. I wanted to leave it to my children. You know what I mean? I wrote it. I thought it would be nice to say, “Here’s a gesture, darling. Here, beautiful children, beautiful wife. When I’m long gone, this is you. This is what I mean. It’s part of my legacy.” That’s never going to happen. Yeah, so I can’t forgive that, right?” he continued.

Stallone has always been vocal about his love for the character of ‘Rocky’, and he has often referred to the character as a personal hero. However, not owning the rights to his beloved character will certainly haunt him for life. In addition, this was part of the reason why he did not opt to come back for Creed III, featuring Michael B. Jordan. Despite this, his brother Frank also brought this story to light after he shared the video online for the world to see.

Sylvester Stallone’s brother shares a painful memory

Frank shared the interview on his Instagram story so that more people would get to know about this. Moreover, this is not the first time he has come out in support of his brother as he took another stand against the producers.

Despite not owning the rights to the character, Stallone has continued to embody the spirit of ‘Rocky’, both on and off-screen. He has often spoken about the character’s message of perseverance and determination, and he has used his own life as an example of what can be achieved with hard work and dedication.
