EDG’s parent company to build an eSports city in China
According to a report by esports observer, parent company SuperGen is going to invest a massive sum to build an eSports city in Shanghai’s Minhang Distric for EDG. This project is estimated to occupy 5.38M square feet of area and it aims to host 300 international eSports competitions annually and will house 10K daily visitors.
The facility will serve as a home for Edward Gaming teams, along with office buildings, and venue for eSports events that can house 6K on-site viewers. It houses a 5-star hotel and even an indoor skydiving venue among many other amenities.
SuperGen has dubbed this venue to be “Shanghai International Culture and Creative eSports Center”. The company also organized a massive event in the ancient district of China to commemorate the exceptional project.
According to the organization, the projected year for the completion of this mammoth project will be 2023. The first phase of the construction will set the company back by $774M; however, the massive scale of this project could easily spill the total budget to go beyond the estimated $1.5 billion sum.

Every organization is dwarfed by this EDG project
In the past, the world has seen many top-rated eSports organizations build exclusive facilities for their teams. For instance, FaZe Clan has built a 30 million dollar compound, 100 Thieves has built $35 million complex, and Team SoloMid has also invested $50 million to build its facility.

However, these numbers no longer seem big enough as compared to the figures shared by SuperGen. This could kick-start a whole new trend in the world of eSports if major entertainment companies with similar sending power find such projects lucrative. Although, it will all depend on the performance of this particular project and how long will it take to become profitable.
