“I Have Sold Everything”: International Supporters’ $180,000 Lifeline Worth Upholds Equestrian Charity’s Mission

In 2009, Jenny Lack and her daughter Lucy, a veterinary surgeon, traveled to Egypt to see the international animal welfare charity Brooke’s work. Thus began her fascinating fundraising journey to improve the lives of working donkeys, horses, and mules worldwide, and she has no plans to stop.

$180,000 Support

The former maths teacher Jenny Lack, who lives near Shrewsbury, Shropshire, has raised over $180,000 in the past 12 months to raise awareness of Brooke.

How did Jenny Lack raise funds?

Every Monday, Jenny volunteers her time selling donated goods, much of which has come from house clearances and her cards made with pressed wildflowers to contribute a significant amount to a horse charity.

Lack's 'inspirational' journey

For over 35 years, Jenny has been a dedicated supporter of Brooke. Discussing Brooke's work fascinated Lach as the problems they address are often connected to poverty and ignorance. She said, “We saw five of Brooke’s clinics and a brick kiln outside Cairo. The visit was inspirational, and it gave me a lot of insight into the problems owners have.”
