Since Allen Iverson won the award in 2001, the Philadelphia 76ers had not had a "Most Valuable Player" in their lineup. When Joel Embiid sobbed during the announcement of the trophy, the NBA community understood what it meant to him to win. With his mother by his side and a large crowd of spectators, the Sixers centre seemed to be in good spirits. However, as his two-year-old son Arthur came racing towards him on the court, it didn't take long for Embiid to start crying.
