When the two most loved legendary drivers of the NASCAR community meet, it is indeed a blast for the fans. Two-time Daytona 500 champion Dale Earnhardt Jr and seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson were in conversation recently.
It was in the recent episode of Dale Jr Download, where Dale Jr along with Mike Davis, interviewed Jimmie Johnson. JJ talked about his experience being back in the race this year.
In the interview, Dale Jr. asked JJ, “Do you think that this is a one-off deal or is it something that develops into something more?” To which JJ replied, “I don’t know what the long-term plan is.”
“Listen, you came on our show a few years ago and said you were thinking about, you’ll figure out retirement, and then like a week later, he announced his retirement from NASCAR. Then in the IndyCar he announces retirement and says, I’m thinking about the mob, probably maybe I’ll do something like that. And we’re like, of course, he then would be lining it all up. You are well ahead. You’re just playing like you know, playing cool about it.”
“It would be amazing, but I don’t have that part baked out yet. But you know, I think the car itself you know, I don’t see how we build many more of these. It is a very specialized vehicle for the race along with that being said, I’m probably going to be incorrect and maybe there’s a category in there that can make it happen right.”
