The latest corporate report from Sony brought many revelations to light. With the next-gen console nearing launch, the company is looking to speed up on its exclusive PlayStation titles.
The gaming industry has been facing some big rivalries of late. Different platforms have kept releasing their titles one after the other and PlayStation has held a strong ground with some of their exclusive titles. A fitting example of this would be Sony’s Spider-Man Miles Morales and God of War. These games are only available on Sony’s consoles which makes them even more special. From their side, Microsoft has been giving a tough time to Sony always.
Games played in PC have better optimization, graphics, and other benefits. This naturally causes people to wonder about the advantages of going for a console over a PC, something Sony is aware of. “Competition from online PC games and players from other industries is expected to continue to intensify,” Sony stated in their report.

Sony will look to invest and work more on their Intellectual Property (IP), all while making sure they edge closer to their users by enhancing direct-to-consumer services. “SIE intends to make proactive investments to reinforce content IP, and work to raise the brand value, foster communities and user engagement, while enhancing direct to consumer services that get closer to users,” the company said.
Sony’s Plans for its PlayStation
The company will be rolling out exclusive titles and enhancing its games. This will be done by introducing new technologies in speed, haptics and sounds. However, simply launching games is not enough. Sony’s offerings need to hit the right chords with fans. To do this, the company will need big titles such as the upcoming Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The company seems to have big plans and said, “SIE plans to provide content for a variety of game genres and formats, and make advances in unique and immersive interactive experiences such as VR.”
To live up to their targets, Sony would ideally want to purchase more companies. They recently acquired Insomniac, and adding more gaming companies to their roster would help them reach their goal.
Sony also seems open to bringing more first-party games to PC, although this could only be for the PS4. Doing the same with their next-gen console would contradict their entire plan. While their strategies look great on paper, it is unclear how they will be implemented. For now, the gaming community will simply have to wait for more updates from the company on this matter.
