Every year brings with it a slew of new games, and with it comes a renewed sense of excitement and anticipation. The year of new generation consoles, however, is something else altogether. Apart from the announcements regarding the consoles themselves, everyone eagerly awaits the spectacle of new-age games. Unfortunately, this year has been quite an anomaly. The pandemic has disrupted our way of life and, naturally, also the various gaming showcase events. While we have had a trickle of news regarding Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox, it has been somewhat frustrating for fans.

In an ideal world, we would already know enough about the PlayStation 5 and the new-age games releasing on the platform. However, this time around updates have been few and far between. Despite a somewhat negative aura surrounding the launch of its next-gen console, Sony has kept tight-lipped about it. The bits and pieces of news to come out have mostly all been through Sony’s investor meetings or financial reports. But hey, we’re not complaining; we’ll take whatever comes our way.

PS5 games lineup “soon”

In a recent corporate strategy meeting, Sony did touch upon the subject of its games lineup for PS5. Kenichiro Yoshida, President, and CEO of the company stated that Sony’s plan to announce something soon.

“Games for the PS5 that deliver this new game experience are being made by both first and third-party developers and we plan to introduce a compelling line-up of titles soon.”

Again, this is hardly a comprehensive update on PS5 and its games. These slow and uninspiring updates coming out of the PS5 camp has frustrated fans, journalists, and the community alike. However, it is still an encouraging sign to see Sony stick to its line that the console remains on course. After all, just a few months back, we weren’t certain the launch would even happen this year.

These are games we are certain to get soon, but there are some we want Sony to at least touch upon in their reveal. Far-fetched as it might seem right now, what if we could get a hint at God of War 2, Dragon Age 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn 2?

We can always dream, can’t we?
