The US ranks 5th on the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying table with Mexico leading the pack, followed by Panama. Despite the presence of talented players, a slump in form and disciplinary issues have caused trouble for the team. Pulisic is by far the biggest star in the team and the winger spoke about the team’s chances.

“I think the group is ready to respond with everything that has gone on… Obviously, two results that we wish could have gone better. The guys’ heads are up and I think we’re ready for a big match tomorrow.”

“There’s no doubt within this team. We’re a confident bunch of guys. We know we’re good enough to go and get three points tomorrow… Nothing’s going to be easy, we know that, but we have no excuses. We’re going to go out and try to win the game tomorrow,” said Pulisic.

Likewise, he threw some light on his own fitness ahead of the game stating that he feels confident and ready. The winger provided an assist in his last game against Canada providing the creative spark for the team.

McKennie’s disciplinary issues

Despite being suspended once by Andrea Pirlo from Juventus for violating Covid protocols, Weston McKennie is in trouble again. The midfielder violated Covid protocols in USMNT’s bubble and was sent back to Italy. Reports emerged that a person entered his hotel despite restrictions on the players who were kept inside the bubble.

The Juventus star is a mainstay in midfield for the national team and manager Gregg Berhalter spoke about the situation and told they dealt with the situation.

“Weston apologized to the group, he apologized to me and things happen,” said Berhalter.
