USWNT is all set to start its journey in this year’s SheBelieves Cup against arch-rivals Canada on Thursday. They will play Japan next, followed by Brazil in the last game. It will be a great opportunity for the USWNT superstar Megan Rapinoe to attain a unique feat during the tournament if she appears in all three games.

She will join 13 other American soccer players in completing 200 appearances for the national team. Her current teammate Alex Morgan has recently achieved the feat last year in November against Germany. US Soccer will honor Morgan before Thursday’s game for her feat.
Megan Rapinoe can become the 14th American USWNT player to play 200 games
Rapinoe is on 197 appearances for the national team, and if she appears in all three games in SheBelieves Cup for USWNT, she will achieve the 200th cap. She will join the likes of Mia Hamm, Carli Lloyd, and Alex Morgan, among others. Rapinoe is making a comeback from injury and was not part of the team’s January camp and two friendlies against New Zealand.

Rapinoe, who is on 197 appearances, has 63 goals so far for USWNT. She has won the FIFA Women’s World Cup twice (2015, 2019) and the Olympics Gold once (2012) with the national team. Other trophies include CONCACAF Women’s Championship thrice (2014, 2018, 2022) and the SheBelieves Cup three times (2018, 2020, 2021). It will be her third SheBelieves Cup if USWNT wins it.
USWNT eyeing 6th SheBelieves Cup
USWNT has so far won SheBelieves Cup five times in 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022. They won the last three tournaments and will look to win the fourth consecutive when they face Canada, Japan, and Brazil.

It will be a great opportunity for the USWNT coach Vlatko Andonovski to see how the squad fares with less than six months to go for FIFA World Cup. “It will show us where the team is now, but I don’t think it will be a real parameter of where the team is gonna be 5½ months from now.”
“Because I know we’re going to try different things, and test different combinations of players. I’m sure that the same thing will happen with the teams that we’re going to face,” Andonovski said about the latest roster.
