Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds became co-chairmen of Wrexham AFC in November 2020, with an immediate investment of $2.5 million. The Hollywood actors raised the bar for the Red Dragons by bringing in sponsorship deals and signing new players.

Looking back on his time with Wrexham, McElhenney said, “I would say looking into the faces of the 40,000 people that came out in the parade after we won the league“. The owners and fans of Wrexham were both tearful when the team was promoted to the English Football League.
