It all came down to a standstill on Saturday as Abramovich announced that he would step down as the sole owner of Chelsea, and give back the stewardship and care of the club to the trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation. Abramovich revealed that he has the club’s best interest at heart, and he wants to play a positive role in the local community.

“I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. I remain committed to these values. That is why I am today giving trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation the stewardship and care of Chelsea FC. I believe that currently, they are in the best position to look after the interests of the Club, players, staff, and fans,” Abramovich’s statement on Chelsea’s official Instagram handle.

The club has won everything in club football during the 20 years of his ownership, including the biggest price of them all, two UEFA Champions League winner medals. The club won the UCL just last season and are looking to build a team that would challenge for the top honors every season.
