Wrexham AFC revealed their kits for the new season, which was a moment of rejoicing for players and owners as well. The astonishing one was the black third kit. Co-owner Rob McElhenney had his plan for the club successful after years of long wait. He tweeted, “I’ve been trying to get this one made for 3 years. Under national league rule, we couldn’t have a black kit. Not a problem anymore 😉”.

The American actor dedicated this kit to North Wales’ coal mining history. This kit will showcase the hardship of their past and Wrexham being a sole part of it.

Why was the black kit not allowed? 

The playing kit for 2023/24 for Wrexham AFC has black for their third kit though the journey till here took 3 years of wait. Previously, the black kits were only retained for referees and assistants. Since 1993, Premier League has been modernized with the new era. This chain was broken a long time back. The National League maintained the legacy formidable for black kits in the league. The owners of Wrexham are finally happy to get past this rule after promotion from League Two.

The most talked about kit for the third oldest club has a red trim on the sleeves and rear of the shirt. The design looks interesting with a buttoned-up collar. As the club announced, this iconic kit is already up for sale in their official store.
