But off-late the club has seen a massive shift. Letting go off club legends like Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo, pundits and fans alike have slammed president Florentino Perez. But the list of his controversies keeps on expanding.
Perez’s true opinions on Real Madrid legends Iker Casillas and Cristiano Ronaldo revealed
Florentino Perez might be regarded as the mastermind of the Galactico’s era, but it hasn’t been without its controversies. Be it his clash with players, or his disagreements with head coaches, Perez has had his criticisms.
After being at the center of European Super League fiasco, it seems Perez can’t catch a break. Spanish digital newspaper El Confidencial recently released some ground-breaking tapes where Perez is demeaning club legends like Raul, Iker Casillas and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Perez whose broken relation with Casillas was pretty evident, was heard talking about ‘San Iker’ not being a worthy keeper for Los Blancos back in a leaked tape from 2006. “He’s not a Real Madrid goalkeeper, what can I say?… He has been our biggest mistake…. But anyways, he is one of the biggest frauds.”
The 74-year-old was also heard criticising legendary forward Raul claiming that he is a negative person and how he affects the locker room. Perez’ expose also did not spare the Portuguese pair of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho.

Ronaldo, who is the top goalscorer in the club’s history, was arguably the best player to feature for the Los Blancos. In a leaked tape from 2012, Perez said, “This guy is an idiot, a sick man. You think this guy is normal, but he’s not normal. The longtime president went on to even claim that their former head coach Jose Mourinho was ‘an idiot.’
This expose certainly reveals how rough behind the scenes of Real is. Madrid seems to be a club which is currently transitioning. But given all the turmoil surrounding the club, the management might be under massive pressure. Will Florentino Perez finally resign from his position as Real Madrid’s president amidst all the crisis?
